Support Children's National Hospital through your IRA, save on taxes and help kids today.
What to know
- If you're age 70.5 or older, you can give up to $100,000 per year directly from your IRA — tax-free
- If you're age 59.5 or older, you can take a distribution and make a gift from your IRA without penalty. If you itemize your deductions, you can take a charitable deduction for your gift
- When you turn 73, you can use a gift from your IRA to satisfy all or part of your required minimum distribution (RMD).
- No matter your age, you can designate Children’s National as the beneficiary of all or a percentage of your IRA. It will distribute the gift tax-free after your lifetime
How it works
- IRA administrators have different procedures for direct transfer requests. They might need an online form or request a letter from you. If your IRA administrator requires a letter, please contact Tamara Sperling.
- Once you contact your IRA administrator, instruct them to include your name on the check that they send to Children’s National Hospital
- Inform us of your gift so that we make the correct gift designations and thank you
- The distribution must clear the IRA account by Dec 31, 2024 for your donation to count for 2024
