“Patients and patient safety are our North Star,” says Marva Moxey-Mims, M.D., chief of Nephrology. She joined Children’s National in 2017 from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases at the National Institutes of Health. She led our pediatric kidney program to become one of the nation’s best with one of the most active transplant programs.

Dr. Moxey-Mims’ vision transcends hospital walls. “There is a huge shortage of pediatric nephrologists across the country and around the world. I would love to see our fellowship program become a leader in this space — to be at the forefront of producing highly qualified clinical nephrologists to fill the workforce void and serve families everywhere.”
