Bella Notte Fundraiser Raises 130000 for Brain Tumor Research
Organized by Children’s National and the National Brain Tumor Society, the Belle Notte event at the Italian Embassy on Feb. 6 raised $130,000 to support pediatric brain tumor research. Dr. Roger Packer, senior vice president of the Center for Neuroscience and Behavioral Medicine, was honored at the event for his work in brain tumor treatment and research. Dr. Packer shared his vision for children with brain tumors and announced a pledge by the Brain Tumor Society of $2.5 million in research grants to help treat high-grade gliomas in children. “My real hope is that with this kind of partnership, next year we’ll be able to announce more breakthroughs for children. We will not only improve their likelihood of survival, but the quality of survival as well.” Read more in theWashington Diplomat or view photos on Flickr.
