Double the Fun: WBQB Doubles Donations in 2nd Annual B101.5 Care-athon
There are many noises that accompany a radiothon event -- phones ringing, laughter, and often sobs from patients and families as they tell their stories. But at the end of the second annual WBQB Care-athon on Nov. 7, one loud sound reverberated from the Spotsylvania Towne Centre: cheers from a huge celebration. The event raised more than doubled the donations from last year with a total of $90,301.90. The funds were a 154 percent increase over last year’s $35,559.15.
“We are happy to be involved with such an important institution like Children’s National that serves so many families in our listening area,” said Mark Bass, Fredericksburg market manager for Centennial Broadcasting. “The expression of support by our audience this year far exceeded expectations, and we look forward to making it bigger and better each year.”
Radiothons are a valuable way for radio stations to partner with Children's National to support children. Funds raised from the event will support specialized medical care, new treatments for childhood diseases, and wellness and preventive services.
