Walmart and Sam’s Club “Help Kids Live Better”
Walmart and Sam’s Club have begun their 30th annual fundraising campaign for Children’s National in 61 stores across Washington, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania. From now through Oct. 29, customers can donate at traditional and self-checkout registers and through store events and contests organized by associates.
The Walmart and Sam’s Club campaign was originally scheduled to run Aug. 28 to Oct. 1, but was postponed so resources could be sent to those affected by hurricanes Harvey and Irma.
Since 1987, local Walmart and Sam’s Club stores have raised more than $8.5 million for kids and families at Children’s National, and stores across the United States and Canada have raised nearly $1 billion for pediatric hospitals in partnership with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
“Our associates are strongly invested in fundraising for Children’s National, our local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital,” said Clint Miller, manager of a local Walmart market. “I commend their passion and creativity during this campaign. Helping the community is part of our culture at Walmart, and we are honored to have this opportunity to change the lives of so many families across our region.”
The Walmart and Sam’s Club campaigns share the goal of giving every child the chance to live better, and their slogan is #helpkidslivebetter. Donations will directly benefit local children and families through innovative therapies, lifesaving cures, and compassionate care for every child treated at Children’s National.
“The passion and commitment of Walmart and Sam’s Club associates over the past 30 years has had an incredible impact on the patients and families we serve,” said Kurt Newman, MD, president and CEO of Children’s National. “These funds ensure that every child, from every background and every walk of life, can receive exceptional care.”
