Children’s National Hospital Celebrates 150 Years!

We celebrate this milestone with all who have shaped Children’s National — our staff, patient families and generous donors.

Volunteer founders opened our doors in the nation’s capital with 12 beds after the Civil War. Today, we’re one of America’s top children’s hospitals. U.S. News & World Report ranked us among the top-10 Best Children’s Hospitals and No. 1 for newborn care four years in a row. Our 150th birthday is an opportunity to reflect on our history and build a stronger future for all children.
