Support World-Class Care During the Pandemic
Children’s National Hospital is caring for an increasing number of children with COVID-19. Winter brings an added burden of respiratory illnesses and flu. As you can imagine, our staff also is facing increased professional and personal stress.
We know vaccination helps reduce transmission. Vaccination also can help keep children in school and in social activities that are vital to their mental health and well-being. As of December 2021, Children’s National administered more than 20,000 COVID-19 vaccinations to nearly 12,000 kids in our community.
Our previous vaccination events were supported by generous donations and community support. Please give today. Your donation will make a difference! Gifts of any size can help us boost vaccination rates in our community.
Increasing Access to Vaccinations Close to Home
Children’s National is committed to increasing vaccination rates in our community. We are ready to immunize young children, as soon as the FDA approves a vaccine for infants, toddlers and pre-school age children. Retail pharmacies are not able to immunize this age group, so our role is critical.
Building Trust & Reducing Health Inequities
We know COVID-19 disproportionately affects families of color. Increasing access to vaccinations for children and adolescents of color is one important way we can help address racial health inequities and create a safer community. It is vital that families facing barriers can receive vaccines from Children’s National, a trusted partner serving the Washington, D.C., community for 150 years.
An Urgent Need for Gifts of Any Size
Please donate today to our COVID-19 Emergency Action Fund. You will support vaccine distribution, research and world-class care, including:
- Clinical costs to provide COVID-19 vaccinations
- COVID-19 research to advance understanding of its impact on children
- Provide resources to help parents find COVID-19 vaccinations in their community, understand vaccine safety and gain comfort in receiving shots from retail pharmacies, health departments or the hospital
- Support and incentives for our clinical providers who added the burden of COVID-19 care to their already stressful workloads; this need is especially urgent given burnout among health care staff
