Corporate Partner Spotlight: James McReady

In our monthly Corporate Partner Spotlight, we speak with corporate leaders about what inspires them to serve as advocates and ambassadors for children’s health. This month, we spoke with James McReady, president of JCM Associates, Inc.

 

James grew up in Maryland and celebrates Children’s National Hospital continuing its stellar reputation for families in the Washington, D.C., region. Today, he gives back to patients and families through his leadership at JCM, including their holiday drive.

 

Why does JCM choose to give back to Children’s National specifically?

 

My father began our charitable contributions in 1989. After 11 years of providing a single company donation, we decided to involve corporate partners with whom we have built lasting business relationships. We feel that children are the most vulnerable population and having such a prestigious institution in our local area makes it an easy decision.

 

Tell us about JCM’s holiday drive through Dr. Bear’s Closet.

 

Every holiday season JCM supports Dr. Bear’s Closet, which gifts donated toys, gift cards and other wishlist items to patient families. We collect donations from our employees, customers and vendors and match the total amount collected dollar for dollar. The successful campaign is driven by the continued generosity of these contributors.

 

What motivates you personally to support Children’s National?

 

It means a lot to know that our efforts with the holiday drive give patients and their families comfort and a welcome distraction. It’s also encouraging to see that the atmosphere created by Children’s National employees and volunteers helps ensure kids feel brave and less anxious about their hospital visits.

 

What would you tell someone considering donating to support Children’s National this holiday season?

 

No amount is too small. All funds collected for Dr. Bear’s Closet are used to distribute toys, games, books, tablets, clothing, personal care items and more for children and their families. Donating to Dr. Bears’s Closet is a great way to give back and make a lasting impact on a child’s visit to the hospital.
