The Race for Every Child Returns for a Momentous 2026

The Race for Every Child 5K Run/Walk returns on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026, at Freedom Plaza in Washington, D.C., and virtually. For 155 years, the Children’s National team has cheered kids on at every milestone. Now, their biggest celebration awaits at the finish line.

The funds we raise through the Race for Every Child make world-class care possible for every patient and family. Meet a few brave kids who lead the way, thanks to your support:

Claire, age 6

Claire relishes any opportunity to dress up, dance ballet or cuddle with her parents. She overcame kidney cancer with world-class treatment and joined a study on solid tumors to help ensure healthy outcomes for more kids like her. Claire hopes her Race for Every Child team will raise at least $10,000 and earn another opportunity to decorate its team tent, a favorite family tradition.

Kendric, age 14

Kendric enjoys going to school, writing and playing video games. He was born with sickle cell disease, and innovative care at Children’s National gave him and his family new hope. Kendric was the first person in the country to undergo a commercially approved gene therapy for pediatric treatment, which sparked his interest in a career in genetics. He looks forward to crossing the finish line for the first time this year.

Elliott, age 6

Elliott cruises on his bicycle, practices basketball layups and devours animal themed books. Soon after he was born, he was diagnosed with a rare congenital heart defect. Four successful surgeries later, Elliott reclaimed his childhood, and his future looks bright. He cannot wait to earn a medal again at the Kids Dash.

Jordyn, age 9

Jordyn loves gymnastics and expresses herself through art and fashion, including creating her own clothing. At 2 months old, Jordyn underwent emergency brain surgery at Children’s National. Expert care helped her heal and meet every milestone. Her family joins the Race for Every Child each year to give back with gratitude.
