Children’s Ball 2023 Celebrates Impact for Kids and Honors Hospital’s CEO
Thanks to the generous support of our community, Children’s Ball 2023 raised more than $3.3 million for Children’s National Hospital patients and families. A thousand guests gathered for the annual gala at The Anthem in Washington, D.C., on April 15 to celebrate the hospital’s recent achievements and vision for the future.
Guests honored Kurt Newman, M.D., who will soon retire as president and CEO of Children’s National, and heard from incoming CEO, Michelle Riley-Brown, MHA, FACHE, who arrives in July. The Foundation awarded Dr. Newman the Joseph E. Robert, Jr., Prize in Philanthropy for his extraordinary legacy of leading with compassion to improve children’s health.
“Children’s National continues to be a strong voice for children locally, nationally and globally,” Dr. Newman said. “Joe Robert planted the idea that we could be among the best, and we did just that with your support.”
Nine-year-old patient Paige and her family shared their story of Paige’s successful journey through cancer. The Children’s Ball supports the hospital’s Fund for Every Child to ensure that patients like Paige receive the best possible care.
